Last week Gryphon took part in the BUILD Entrepreneur Games after being asked by WeWork to participate on their team. With 70 companies in attendance, it was a great opportunity to support BUILD; a charitable organization founded in 1999 in California that has built programs in D.C., Boston, and New York City.

BUILD uses entrepreneurship-based, experiential learning to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities and equip them for high school, college and career success. In the Boston area, BUILD is in seven high schools and has helped over 400 students.

Since 2012, 96% of students completing the BUILD program graduate from high school on time and 98% of those are accepted to at least one post-secondary opportunity… an impressive rate!

Gryphon would like to thank Lisa, Samantha, Brian, Jack, Lakshit, and Karthik for participating in the BUILD Entrepreneur Games.

“It was an excellent day full of fun, supporting such a great cause.” – Brian Reske

“I enjoyed having the freedom to do various events, as well as try new, fun things. Also, free beer at the end wasn’t too bad!” – Jack Simoneau

“I had wonderful time yesterday, and it’s very relaxing to do something different from our routine. We will make a Gryphon Team next time and hopefully participate in all games and win many Cups.” – Karthik Turaga

“The event was wonderful! I had such a great time with the group of us Gryphon employees that went. The event was beautifully organized within the space they had and it was great opportunity for possible networking, as there were over 70 companies there! We FOR SURE need a Gryphon team next time! Even if people don’t want to play the games, it was a great way to connect with your co-workers and support BUILD.” – Samantha Bessey

“This was a really good opportunity for me to get along with different teams within Gryphon and connect outside of work. It was something that I don’t get a chance every day. I had a lot of fun.” – Lakshit Talreja

“The BUILD team put on an amazing event, was well organized and so upbeat.  I spoke with several of the BUILD staff and they ooze enthusiasm for what they do for these high school kids and their commitment to move them forward AND  it showed in this event.  It was super fun to hang out with the Gryphon team, participate in some silly events and meet some new people.” – Lisa Centrella

This is exactly the type of organization Gryphon loves to support as part of our Corporate Responsibility program, and next year we hope to get our own Gryphon team!
