The FTC issued the 5th annual National Do Not Call Registry Data Book for 2013, which reported the number of actively registered phone numbers on the National Registry increased by 2.6% to more than 223 million numbers.

The FTC received 3,748,655 complaints in 2013. The number one category of complaint was related to recorded messages, “robocalls”, most of which have been illegal since 2009.

For 2013, the District of Columbia had the highest concentration of residents with numbers registered on the National Do Not Call Registry and the state with the highest concentration of complaints filed in 2013 was New Jersey.
